BACKGROUND
GuardAI is an AI risk management framework developed by Himalaya Quantitative Solutions that protects generative AI systems from harmful or malicious usage, helping developers and businesses comply with evolving US and EU regulations. As a volunteer UI/UX designer, I redesigned GuardAI’s public-facing interface to improve product clarity, usability, and visual credibility—directly supporting client acquisition and product demos.
PROBLEM
The GuardAI webpage was unclear and lacked credibility, making it difficult for users and potential clients to understand its capabilities. This made it hard to sell the product and all its features to potential clients, losing sales.
OUTCOME
I redesigned the GuardAI webpage by improving structure, clarity, and professionalism in order to better describe the product for clients. I also improved the visual hierarchy and navigation on the page to better communicate the product's value.
DEFINING SUCCESS
Presenting GuardAI's vision.
USER GOAL
I want to easily learn about GuardAI and all its capabilities to understand if I should be a client,
BUSINESS GOAL
Commuinicate the product's vision, while being as clear and transparent as possible, in order to improve trust and gain clients.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The existing GuardAI interface lacked credibility and structure, making it difficult for users and potential clients to understand the product's capabilities. How do we…
Showcase the product's value and help customers understand its capabilities?
Communicate the need to build secure models and how GuardAI can help?
Gain customer trust in the product?
KEY INSIGHTS
Framing the mission to help users understand the vision is key
Real world case studies help build transparency and help users understand real use cases
Demos of insecure models can help users understand their exploits, and how GuardAI can help protect their models
THE RESULT
FROM DESIGN TO DEVELOPMENT
As a volunteer UI/UX designer, I worked on a tight timeline alongside developers to align on timelines to ultimately ship the new homepage.
FEATURE ONE
HOMEPAGE REDESIGN: ESTABLISHING TRUST FROM THE START
Upon entry, the redesigned homepage immediately communicates the product's use case and directs users to enhanced product demos that showcase the product's capabilities to build trust.

FEATURE TWO
ABOUT PAGE: FRAMING THE WHY
To help users and stakeholders understand the vision behind GuardAI, I designed an About page that explains the problem space (security vulnerabilities in AI) and explains how GuardAI can help users build ethical secure models.

FEATURE THREE
CASE STUDY: TRANSPARENCY IN ACTION
I created a public-facing case study alongside stakeholders to share real world use cases and evaluation outcomes. This allows users to view real examples, understand how the products defenses perform in various scenarios, and build credibility.

FEATURE FOUR
VULNERABILITY DETENTION & DEFENSE DEMOS
I designed clear demos to showcase the products use cases, including
Harmful Prompt Tab: Exposing Prompt Injection Risks explores how easily models can be manipulated by having users play with prompt injection.
Privacy Tab: Preventing Data Leakage tests if the model can reveal sensitive information it's exposed to to showcase how easily models can leak data.
Bias Tab: Detecting Fairness and Equity Issues allows users to compare model outputs across identity-based prompts.

END TO END RESULT

IMPACT
CLARIFYING THE PRODUCT VISION
Overall, following the redesign, GuardAI was structured more clearly and easier to navigate, The demos and case studies I helped design showcased the model's capabilities, increasing product clarity and transparency.
REFLECTIONS & TAKEAWAYS
Working as a volunteer UI/UX designer for a limited time, I learned how to budget my time wisely and work efficiently to deliver a high quality product with limited resources. I also learned how to effectively clarify highly technical topics so others understood it better.
✨ Huge thanks to the developers and founders for trusting me to help redesign the product's demos and public-facing interface!
